What Is A Stick Golfer?

What Is A Stick Golfer?

In golf, a “stick“ refers to a very good golfer.

If someone is referred to as a “stick,” it likely means they are a scratch golfer or better.

Although many people use it as a relative term, meaning a 20 handicapper might refer to a 5 handicapper as a “stick,” I wouldn’t refer to anyone as a stick unless they are a plus handicap.

A stick isn’t your buddy that occasionally shoots 72 but mostly shoots closer to 80.

A stick is a player that can go low and does so frequently.

A stick regularly shoots even par or better and likely played some collegiate golf or semi-pro golf.

When a stick flushes it on the range, the 18 handicappers and weekend hackers cannot help but watch.

It just looks and sounds different when a stick hits it.

If you’re not sure if you should be calling someone a stick, you shouldn’t.

You’ll know one when you see it.
