What Does Thru Mean In Golf? And How To Read A Golf Leaderboard

The term thru is used on golf leaderboard to indicate how many holes the player has completed.

In other words, thru indicates how many holes the player is “through” in the tournament.

Here is an example of a leaderboard:

thru and f on a golf leaderboard

Since this screenshot was taken after round 3 of the Waste Management Open was completed, everyone has an “F” in the thru column. This indicates that all players have finished.

When a round is in progress, you will see a hole number under the “Thru” column on a leaderboard, and that indicates how many holes that player has completed.

If the number “12” appears under the thru column, that means that player has completed 12 holes, and is currently playing hole 13. As soon as they putt out and finish hole 13, their row on the leaderboard will be updated to show 13 under the thru column.
