In golf, mc stands for missed cut.
This means that a player did not make the cut and will not be playing on the weekend.
The majority of PGA tournament fields consist of 132-156 players.
In most tournaments, all players play at least the first two days, on Thursday and Friday.
At the conclusion of play on Friday, the field is “cut” down to somewhere around 60-70 players.
Also of note, a missed cut means a missed payday.
If you don’t make the cut, you don’t make any money.
