The Masters Cut Line

The Masters Cut Line

At the Masters, the top 50 golfers plus any ties make the cut.

As with most golf tournaments, the cut is made after the second day of play concludes on Friday.

For example, if 42nd place is -3 and 15 players are tied at -2, all 15 make the cut, and the total number of golfers playing on the weekend will be 57.

Until 2019, the top 50 plus ties and all players within 10 strokes of the lead made the cut at the Masters.

The Masters dropped the 10-stroke qualifier in 2020 in order to reduce the number of players that make the cut.

Masters Field Size

Since 2000, the Masters field has ranged from 87-99 players, with 93 being the average field size.

This year, there will be 88 competitors.

The Masters has by far the smallest field of any major, contributing to its status as the most prestigious.
