Played 5 or 6 full rounds this month. Scores ranged from 84-91.

Swing is still under construction and some days it’s just awful

Took two lessons that both went well. Worked on irons (approach shots) and short game- chips, pitches.

Driver has been getting better.

Approach shots continue to be the worst part of my game.

I will spend a large part of my practice time in April working on reinforcing new swing thoughts and practicing short game.

Arccos Stats

All strokes gained are relative to a 0 handicap.

*I will now be using a 20 round average for all monthly stat updates.

Compared to January, total strokes gained improved by .5 this month and my overall game has improved by 3.0 strokes over my last 20 rounds.

Driving was worse by 0.3.

Approach was the same.

Short game was the same.

Putting improved by 0.2.

Top 3 Insights

Approach shots are still the worst part of my game by far.

Shots from the fairway got worse by 0.1, 100-150 yard approach shots got worse by 0.3, and 25-50 yard chips shots replaced 150-200 yard approach shots as my 3rd worst shot.

Scoring Averages

Par 5s are still my worst but I improved by 0.1.

Driving accuracy is improving but I still lose a ball or two on par 5s each round.

My goal this month was to minimize doubles or worse.

I’m still getting too many doubles each round but I finally achieved a goal I have been working towards for a while: a full 18 hole round without a double bogey or worse.

I achieved a double bogey free round on March 17th, shooting 84 with 12 bogeys and 6 pars!

GHIN increased by 0.5 due to a bunch of low-mid 80s scores being posted along with a 79 and 81 from last year dropping off.

April Focus

The focus for the next three months is to improve my short-mid iron game.

Approach shots are killing my score, particularly shots from the fairway.

Also going to try to play a full 18 at least once a week.

My alignment has improved, now I just need to trust it, particularly on approach shots.

My goal is to get approach shots under -3.0 for strokes gained within the next two months.

Within the next 3-4 months, my goal is to get driving under -1.0. With my length off the tee, it shouldn’t be very hard once I get some control over my accuracy.

I will continue to spend at least an hour or two a week working on my pitching and chipping.
