7 Crazy Masters Rules Patrons Must Follow

The Masters Tournament is one of the most prestigious golf events in the world, held annually at the picturesque Augusta National Golf Club.

If you’re fortunate enough to secure a ticket and attend this exclusive event, you’ll be a part of golf history.

However, as a patron at the Masters, there are specific rules you must follow to ensure the event runs smoothly and remains enjoyable for everyone.

1. No Cell Phones or Electronic Devices

At the Masters, patrons must leave their cell phones and electronic devices at home or in their vehicles.

This rule aims to preserve the tournament’s tradition and allows spectators to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere.

2. No Cameras During Tournament Rounds

While patrons are allowed to bring cameras to the course during the practice rounds, they are strictly prohibited during the official tournament rounds.

This rule is in place to minimize distractions for the players and ensure that the focus remains on the competition.

3. No Running

As a Masters patron, you’re expected to maintain a leisurely pace while on the grounds.

Running is prohibited, so start practicing your speed walking if you want to get a good view!

4. Don’t Touch Any Chairs

At the Masters, patrons often use foldable chairs to secure prime viewing spots around the course.

As crazy as it is to believe, once you place your chair, you can rest assured that no one will touch it.

5. Stay Off The Greens

Patrons must remain off the greens and closely mown areas at all times, even when crossing the course.

This rule helps to protect the pristine condition of the course and ensures that the greens remain perfect for the players.

6. No Autographs During Tournament Days

However, autograph-seeking is allowed during practice rounds and in designated areas around the clubhouse.

7. No Yelling Stupid Phrases

This is my personal favorite.

The Masters has a strict “no yelling” policy, meaning that patrons are not allowed to shout out catchphrases or other disruptive comments during the event.

Shouting common golf tournament phrases such as “Mashed potatoes!”, “Get in the hole!” and “Baba Booey!” will all get you thrown out of the Masters.
